Preact’s Minimum Character Counter Solution can be used in many different scenarios where we need to set a minimum character limit on a field in Dynamics.
This makes the values more consistent across the board and it helps improve the quality of the data entered.
But for an end user, these controls are often not really apparent until they finish typing out what they need to, and they try and save the form. It would then mean that we can display an error message to say the minimum character limit hasn’t been displayed.
Once the user begins to enter in the value, they can see how many characters are remaining to meet the minimum requirement before they attempt to save the record.
So here we can have a look on the form, and see that I have a minimum type field here of 11 characters, just a normal text field. There is also a multi-line text field.
So, if I just start typing in a phone number, in the field set to a 11 characters if it’s a mobile, you can see that it is telling me there is 4 characters remaining.
Whereas, if I start typing over here *multi-line text field*, it’s showing me that out of the 2000 characters required for the multi-line text field, there is 1530 characters remaining.
This solution can be applied to any field, on any form, on any entity; wherever this is needed.
Further examples of this might include, tracking sort code or account numbers for bank details, or also a reason text box where we need to capture sufficient information to define an outcome.
This is one of our many solutions packaged up at Preact, and these are all available to our Managed Service customer at no additional cost.
