I’m using this on the “Account” form for today's purpose, but this can be enabled on any multi-line of text field, anywhere on a form, on any entity in your Dynamics.
The purpose of this solution is, if I just click into the control here [TEXT FIELD], to allow the user to see how many characters this field will allow. As they start typing in the box, it will tell them how many characters they have left i.e. 1553 in this scenario. If I carry on typing, the control is counting down as we type.
It’s a really useful solution that we’ve had many people ask for. For example, if you're copying and pasting information from a website and you need to see how many characters are in it before you add it to the database, so that you don't go over a limit, it is useful. Also, if you're adding something into a field that Twitter might pick up and post out on your behalf; as Twitter has a character limit, this can help you limit input.
